District 3 in Old Tappan is represented by Municipal Vice-Chairwoman Lois Gallagher and Michael Alessi.
Lois has served Old Tappan since first moving here with her husband and former Mayor, Edward J. Gallagher, in 1969. She was a member of the PTA from 1969 to 1983, and served as the Vice President of the Friends of the Old Tappan Library. She spent many years serving as both Vice President and Treasurer of the Old Tappan Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxillary, and has achieved the status of Life Member. Lois was the Fundraising Chair for the Old Tappan Centennial Committee. She was a past President of the St. Pius X Rosary Society, serving in that role for eight years, and still currently serves as a Eucharistic Minister. Lois was honored in 2003 with the Old Tappan Mayor’s Volunteer of the Year award. She has devoted many years to the Republican Party, serving as the Party’s Vice President from 2006 through 2011.
A lifelong resident of Old Tappan, Michael has spent over thirty years with as a member of the Old Tappan Volunteer Fire Department. Michael served as Chief of the Department in 1999, and served as President of the Fire Company from 2008 to 2010. He is currently a member of both the Old Tappan Planning Board and the Old Tappan Sustainable Jersey Advisory Committee. Michael is an active member of the Old Tappan Republican Club. He was appointed to the County Committee in January 2010, winning election for the first time in June of 2010.
